Not a Hoof Left Behind
Earlier today, part of my Bible reading included Exodus chapter 10. This chapter tells part of the story of God preparing to lead his people out of Egypt and slavery. God is sending a variety of plagues to show his might and power to both the Egyptians and the Hebrews. At one point, Pharaoh agreed to send the Hebrews out into the wilderness to worship and offer sacrifices, but he stipulates they leave their livestock behind in Egypt. We have Moses’ answer starting in verse 25:
25 “No,” Moses said, “you must provide us with animals for sacrifices and burnt offerings to the Lord our God. 26 All our livestock must go with us, too; not a hoof can be left behind. We must choose our sacrifices for the Lord our God from among these animals. And we won’t know how we are to worship the Lord until we get there.” (Exodus 10:25-26, New Living Translation)
I could probably come up with some great, deep theological insight. Instead, I was reminded of a video I saw some time ago. I hope you enjoy. As always, feel free to comment below.
